Today was one of those days when you spend money. Unfortunately. A few friends and I went to Tea Garden, and then went to Bona for some really good pho. Amazing stuff. Now, some backstory. One of my friends had more or less taken the day off yesterday of school yesterday, skipping a few classes, and was contemplating doing the same this afternoon. He attributed it to "a lack of motivation." I thought it was hilarious; we're freshmen in college, and we're already losing motivation? Shouldn't freshman year be the one where you're the most gungho about everything? How can you already be losing motivation? We continued talking about this over pho, and frankly, I don't remember much of that conversation; the pho was too good.
After that, I started thinking about my motivation, and what motivates me to get up every morning and go to class. Technically, there's no attendance, so I could just skip. Would I miss some important lecture? Possibly, but I could always get notes from friends or look at powerpoints online. Maybe I have homework due? Well, that's only one or two classes each week, so no. What motivates us to do anything? For example, today, I took a 10 minute walk to a bus stop, got on a super crowded bus and stood for 20 minutes (thank you Asian public transportation for training me for these moments) and then walked another 10 minutes to a library, all so I could get 4 pieces of information for a test I'm writing. Not only that, I stayed in the library for over an hour, looking through 4-5 different books about the information I was trying to find. Now, this test I"m writing isn't getting me volunteer hours, or money, or even recognition. I'm just writing it because of the love I have for the event. So clearly, love is a motivator.
This is actually getting a bit longer than I expected. I'll finish it tomorrow, I 'spose.
Youtube videos are back! and we're going back to my kpop. Music is also a great motivator.
